Happy Thanksgiving = "No Texting While Driving"

• 33 states still allow bus drivers to use cell phones
• only 7 states have banned cell phone use in vehicles all together
• There are still 21 states, including our sunny Florida, where texting while driving has not been banned yet
• Only 20 states have banned the action

The National Safety Council estimates there will be 447 traffic fatalities and 23,700nonfatal disabling injuries this holiday weekend. According to NSC, 484 people died in crashes over the 2008 Thanksgiving holiday period. In January, NSC became the first national organization to call for a total ban on cell phone use, period, based on scientific estimates that cell phone use while driving contributes:

• 6 percent of crashes, or 636,000 crashes
• 330,000 injuries, 12,000 serious injuries
• 2,600 deaths each year

The annual financial toll of cell phone-related crashes is $43,000,000,000 (that's billion.)
